Bush Seeks $3 Billion More For Troops For Iraq

U.S. President George W. Bush has asked Congress for an additional $3.2 billion to pay for sending at least 4,000 U.S. troops to Iraq.

The extra troops are in addition to a 21,500-troop buildup that Bush announced in January.

There are currently around 141,000 U.S. troops in Iraq, including the first deployment of soldiers in connection with the January announcement.

The budget revisions comes as many U.S. lawmakers opposed to the buildup are debating funding for the war.
