Celebrate this St. Patrick's Day with Irish music sensation Cherish the Ladies, who will lead a Celtic Celebration with the Phoenix Symphony on March 16 and 17 at 8:00PM, and March 18 at 2:00PM at Symphony Hall.
They will also lead a special Family Series concert, at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, March 17. The Family Concert will include pre-concert activities for kids and their families starting at 1:30 in the lobby of Symphony Hall.
Literally the most successful and sought-after Irish-American group in Celtic music, and the first and only all-women traditional Irish band, Cherish the Ladies take their name from a traditional Irish jig.
Thanks to their superior showmanship and timeless talent, the magic and music of the Emerald Isle will come alive in a dazzling concert experience hailed by the New York Times as "passionate, tender"¦and rambunctious." With their spectacular blend of virtuosi instrumental skills, beautiful vocals, captivating arrangements and stunning step dancing, this powerhouse group combines all the facets of Irish traditional culture and puts it forth in an immensely humorous and entertaining package.
The group has been chosen Best Musical Group of the Year by the BBC and received a 1999 Grammy nomination. They have also made appearances on CBS This Morning, Good Morning America, National Public Radio, and at the Olympics in Atlanta, where they were chosen to represent Irish music and culture. -- www.phoenixsymphony.org
