Tucson Symphony Presents Emily And Ghost Flute

Visit a Haunted (But Not Too Scary) House With The Tucson Symphony Orchestra Flute, Viola, Harp Trio At Just for Kids on Saturday, March 17, 2007. The big old house across the street had been abandoned for years. But very late one night Emily heard the sound of a flute. What could it be? Where could it be coming from? Find out in the scary (but not too scary!) Emily and the Ghost Flute by TSO violinist and composer Michael Fan.

Emily and the Ghost Flute, the last of six programs in the Tucson Symphony Orchestra's 2006/07-season's Just for Kids Series, is scheduled for Saturday, March 17 at 10:00 am and 11:15 am at the Tucson Symphony Center, 2175 N. Sixth Ave. (1 block south of Grant). These fun, informal morning concerts are a popular way to introduce young people to classical music in an entertaining and kid-friendly environment.

Emily and the Ghost Flute marks the second collaboration between composer Michael Fan and the Tucson Symphony Orchestra Flute, Viola, Harp Trio. The first was Sam and the Crazy Daisy which was first performed November 5, 2005. Emily and the Ghost Flute tells the story of Emily, a young girl who hears the sound of a flute in the abandoned house across the street.

Despite warnings to stay away, her curiosity gets the better of her and she starts to explore the house. She imagines the scariest things as she gets closer to the source of the sound. Emily and the Ghost Flute offers an opportunity for composer Michael Fan to explore all the ghostly musical special effects possible with flute, viola, and harp.

Admission is free, with a $2 per person donation suggested. -- www.tucsonsymphony.org
