San Diego Gay Men's Chorus Gets Ready To "Fly"

The Gay Men's Chorus of San Diego proudly commemorates 15 years of singing out with the inaugural concert of its 15th Anniversary Season, "Watch Me Fly!" to be presented in Hillcrest on both Saturday and Sunday, April 14 and 15, 2007.

GMCSD performs for the first time in the magnificent acoustics of St. Paul's Cathedral in a concert that will move its audiences to tears while filling their hearts with joy. The magic of flight will come alive as the Chorus sings some of the most beautiful music ever written about flying. Featured selections will include "Dancing Through Life" and "Defying Gravity" from the smash hit Broadway musical Wicked and Josh Groban's hit songs "To Where You Are" and "The Prayer."

Other well-known favorites will include the beautiful "Up, Up and Away" as well as the timeless classic "Over the Rainbow." "Watch Me Fly!" also features the long-awaited California premiere of "Metamorphosis" written by Robert Seeley and Robert Espindola. Through its exquisite music, this stunning multi-movement work for men's chorus and full orchestra relates the story of our journey as gay men through self-discovery, acceptance, and ultimate triumph as a proud community. "Metamorphosis" is an uplifting piece with a truly universal message about the soaring of the human spirit that will inspire everyone lucky enough to hear it.

Tickets to "Watch Me Fly!" are $35 for Saturday night's performance and just $30 for Sunday evening, with discounts available for seniors, students, and military. -- www.gmcsd.com
