Coalition Troops Mistakenly Kill 5 Afghan Police

Senior Afghan officials say U.S.-led coalition soldiers accidentally killed five Afghan police officers in the troubled south.

A senior police official says American troops mistook the officers manning a checkpoint for militants late Thursday. Troops opened fire, killing five.

The shooting occurred in the Gereshk district of restive southern Helmand province.

There was no immediate comment from coalition forces.
