Washington, DC - Taberna del Alabardero toasts its 18th anniversary in the nation's capital with a week of festivities celebrating Spain's cultural and culinary traditions. In honor of Gastronomic Week, Taberna will offer a three-course menu featuring specialty dishes from Spain; a Flamenco Extravaganza; and a special 18th Anniversary Wine Dinner prepared by special guest chefs Miguel Angel Prieto and José Molina of Taberna del Alabardero in Sevilla, Spain, and Executive Chef Santi Zabaleta. The celebratory week will be held from Monday, March 19th through Saturday, March 24th.
The Gastronomic Week anniversary celebration kicks off with a special three-course menu offering an array of traditional Spanish dishes that guests can choose from to create their own personalized dinner. The special menu includes dishes such as Typical fried Seafood from the South of Spain; Chilled Tomato Soup with Jamón Serrano and Quail Egg; Salt Cod with Olive Oil Emulsion, Apple and Vanilla Ragout; Roast Leg of Lamb, Potato and White Wine Reduction; and Tea Soup with Cinnamon Ice Cream. The three-course, "create your own" menu will be offered during dinner Monday, March 19th through Thursday, March 22nd. The menu is priced at $55 per person, exclusive of tax and gratuity.
The Flamenco Extravaganza on Friday, March 23rd will dazzle guests as renowned Flamenco dancers Carmela Greco and Edwin Aparicio, guitarist Richard Marlow and singer Alfonso Cid perform the ancient gypsy art, which originated in Southern Spain over 200 years ago and is a blend of song, dance and guitar. The menu for the Flamenco Extravaganza includes Bacalao Fritters; Sea Bream with Stuffed Squid in Ink Sauce and Cream and Garlic-Parsley Rice; and Wild Game Terrine with mixed nuts. Seating times for the Flamenco night are scheduled for 7:00 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. This special evening is priced at $65 per person, exclusive of tax and gratuity.
To cap off the week-long celebration, Taberna del Alabardero has teamed up with Aurelio Cabestrero to present an 18th Anniversary Wine Dinner on Saturday, March 24th, which includes a cocktail hour featuring tapas and cava and a seven-course wine tasting menu specially created by guest chefs Miguel Angel Prieto and Jose Molina and Executive Chef Santi Zabaleta. The menu is paired with wines personally selected by Sommelier David Bueno and Aurelio Cabestrero, one of the top Spanish wine importers in the US, and will feature Lobster Salad with Diver Scallops and a Honey Vinaigrette paired with a Gran Vinum 2005 and Seared Duck Breast, Mango Sauce and Foie Gras with Orange Liquor "43"Â Sponge Cake paired with a Pujanza Norte 2003. This celebratory evening will begin at 7:00 p.m. and is priced at $130 person, all inclusive.
