The World No1 was a convincing winner, coming out on top in both the taijiquan (shadow boxing) and taijijian (taiji sword) disciplines to win with a score of 19.38.

Japan's Ai Miyaoka, ranked No 4 in the world, came second, some 0.12 points behind Chai, with Ng Shin Yii almost making it a Malaysian 1-2. However she finished an agonizingly-close 0.04 points behind Ng with 19.22 - so had to settle for bronze.

China's Wu Yanan took the men's taijiquan title. The East Asian Games champion scored 19.72, almost half a point ahead of Hei Zhi Hong who registered two equal 9.63 scores to finish on 19.26 points to claim silver.

Singapore's Goh Qiu Bin took the bronze medal despite only finishing joint fifth in the second discipline, the taijijian (sword) event. He nudged ahead of Myanmer's Myo Min Soe and Yongkai Eugene Yang of Singapore who were both within 0.10 points of his final bronze-winning score.
