Saidov win Uzbeks third boxing gold

Boxing's super heavyweight contest failed to live up to its pre-fight billing and a needle match, it was a stroll in the park as Uzbekistan's Rustam Saidov retained his title in impressive fashion against Mukhtarkhan Dildabekov of Kazakhstan.

Saidov outscored Dildabekov with nine seconds remaining of the second round. It was Uzbekistan's third gold in boxing and makes them the most successful country and region at the games in terms of boxing's golden boys.

All the finals were one-sided on Wednesday, but this was the biggest hammering of them all. The Uzibek was 29-9 when he was given the victory by outscoring his opponent.

The two times champion and Olympic bronze medallist was 10-6 ahead after the first two minute round, but really seized the match at the beginning of the second as a tired looking Dildabekov walked into some punches.

Bronzes went to Johnson Varghese of India and Jasem Delavari from IR Iran.
