Kazakhstan's Interior Ministry says about 50 men have been detained in connection with recent violence in the country's south, RFE/RL's Kazakh Service reported.
At least three people were killed and several others were wounded in the fighting that broke out on March 17.
A ministry spokesman, Bagdat Kojakhmetov, said several police units were patrolling the southern Kazakh villages of Kazatkom and Malovodnoye, where the violence took place.
Witnesses have said the clashes involved both ethnic Chechens and Kazakhs.
