TIBCO Software Inc. today announced that TeliaSonera, the leading communications operator in Scandinavia and select Eastern European markets, chose TIBCO as its sole IT supplier for standardising application integration and service oriented architecture (SOA) solution requirements.
Bo Forssten, corporate director, Integration, at TeliaSonera, explains: "By consolidating with a single vendor, we expect to greatly decrease the time spent on developing a new infrastructure thereby reducing maintenance costs. Simultaneously, we can increase functionality and reusability to allow us to develop and speed more offerings to market."
For the past 10 years, TIBCO has been one of several vendors the telecommunications leader used for its enterprise IT infrastructure. In a recent exhaustive evaluation process, TIBCO was chosen as its sole IT supplier over BEA Systems and other competing vendors because of its platform agnostic and open source product offerings, market leadership in integration, and deep expertise in the telecommunications industry. TeliaSonera's decision to further consolidate was based on many factors, including longevity, flexibility, reusability, reliability, economies of scale to ease long-term infrastructure complexity and operational costs.
