In a strategic response to the dramatic market growth opportunities presented by one of the world's largest and growing mobile markets, the new Sybase 365 office will extend its reach to offer more services to customers and partners throughout the country.
Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world with 60 million mobile subscribers, representing a mobile penetration of about 25 per cent of the 230 million population. Significant growth is projected to reach more than 40 per cent or more than 90 million mobile subscribers in the next two to three years, according to the Asia Pacific Research Group.
Having secured premium SMS connections with Indonesia's top three mobile operators - Telkomsel, Indosat, and Excelcom - Sybase 365's reach now extends to cover 97 percent of the Indonesian mobile market, or more than 58.2 million mobile subscribers.
"With a text to voice usage ratio of 10:1, it is clear that Indonesia's nascent mobile market presents exciting opportunities for international content companies seeking expansion into emerging markets, "Â said Matthew Talbot, vice president of Sybase 365, Asia. " We believe that mobile messaging, whether it's for music, entertainment, banking, info-on-demand, promoting a brand or even employee communications, will be key revenue drivers for the Indonesian operators over the next couple of years."Â
Sybase 365 Indonesia is located in the prime central business district of Jakarta. At the helm of this new operation is Country Manager, Tan Teck-Yiang, who brings a wealth of experience in the wireless industry from his previous appointments at StarHub and Singapore Technologies Infocomm.
Teck-Yiang will spearhead the deployment of Sybase 365's global client-base in Indonesia; create indigenous business opportunities, and establish Sybase 365 as a leading provider of mobile messaging and messaging interoperability in the Indonesian market - Sybase.
