UN special envoy Martti Ahtisaari is expected to present his final proposal for the future status of Kosovo to the UN Security Council today.
Ahtisaari's proposal, which foresees "supervised independence" for Kosovo, has prompted objections from permanent Security Council member Russia.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said Moscow would oppose the plan if Serbian interests are ignored, but it was not clear if Russia would use its veto power.
UN diplomats said the Security Council will address the proposal next month.
