Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Presents Musical Zoo

Visit the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra's musical zoo where your favourite fairy tales and animals come to life, on Saturday 31 March, 8pm and Sunday 1 April, 2pm.

Leading the pack is Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals, much loved by the young and young at heart for the melodic beauty of The Swan.Come and hear this colourful parade of lions, elephants, kangaroos and more, with acclaimed TV and stage actor Simon Burke speaking Nick Enright's hilarious verses. Simon also tells the musical story of everyone's favourite bear, Paddington, and the very first time he hears an orchestra!

Since winning the AFI award for Best Actor at the age of 13 for his performance in The Devil's Playground, Simon Burke has enjoyed great success both in Australia and the UK in film, TV, stage and concert appearances. His many television credits include The Alice, Small Claims III, Thank God You're Here, Water Rats, Brides of Christ as well as his 18 year stint on ABC TV's Play School.

Acclaimed UK conductor Anthony Inglis will lead the Orchestra in well-known works by Humperdink and Tchaikovsky which open and close this program. Last year Inglis impressed audiences with his warm and approachable style in the thrilling laser lights and special effects experience of Classical Spectacularat the Rod Laver Arena.
