"Sharkie", the San Jose Sharks energetic and very entertaining mascot, is shown here presenting a check to Ballet San Jose Artistic / Executive Director Dennis Nahat (center) and company dancers (left to right) Haley Henderson and Alexsandra Meijer.
Haley and Alexsandra are two of the lead dancers in Nahat's BLUE SUEDE SHOES, the "Elvis" ballet which will run March 16 through 25 in downtown San Jose.
The $15,000 grant was awarded by The Shark's Foundation in support of Ballet San Jose's numerous community outreach programs that include free ballet tickets and free ballet classes for County elementary through high school students, social and service club support, and even a special FREE hour-long ballet lecture demonstration.
This year, The Sharks Foundation will give $317,535 to 19 different organizations selected from 80 applicants. All grants were awarded to groups with outstanding programs supporting youth. -- www.balletsanjose.org
