Cowboy Junkies Return To Benaroya

On Tuesday, April 17, at 7:30 p.m., the Canadian alt-country rock group Cowboy Junkies will bring their plaintive and hypnotic sounds to Benaroya Hall with Seattle Symphony Orchestra. The band will perform songs that span their 20-plus year career as well as new tracks from their new album, At the End of Paths Taken, which will be released on the same day.

With 10 critically acclaimed releases and over four million records sold, Cowboy Junkies have connected with audiences around the world. Three of the band's members-singer Margo Timmins; songwriter, producer and guitarist Michael Timmins; and drummer Peter Timmins-are siblings, and bassist Alan Anton has been a member since the group formed in Toronto in 1985.

The Junkies released their debut album, Whites Off Earth Now!!, in 1986 on their own Latent Recordings label. Their second album, The Trinity Session, was self-released in 1988 and soon re-released on RCA Records. Their subsequent albums on this label-The Caution Horses (1990), Black Eyed Man (1992), Pale Sun, Crescent Moon (1993), Lay It Down (1996) (which featured the Top 20 Modern Rock hit "A Common Disaster" and earned Cowboy Junkies a gold record), Miles From Our Home (1998), Open (2001) and One Soul Now (2004)-chronicle the band's evolution. In 1999, Cowboy Junkies restarted Latent Recordings.

The Junkies have performed on some of the world's most prestigious stages, including Royal Albert Hall, the Musikhalle, Wolf Trap and in legendary rock clubs. Their music can also be heard in dozens of feature films and television shows. They have contributed recordings to numerous tribute albums honoring such luminaries as Townes Van Zandt, Neil Young, The Grateful Dead, The Beatles, Gordon Lightfoot, Gram Parsons and more.
