Dr. Thea Tlsty, an expert on cancer at the University of California at San Francisco, will present some of her latest research on the origin and development of cancerous cells in the body, in the final Exploratorium Cutting-Edge Biology Lecture Series event of the season. In this public presentation, Dr. Tlsty will be presenting cutting edge research and state of the art treatment options that hark the future, including endoscopic footage of breast cancer cell formations within the milk ducts of the breast. Visitors will be able to observe living cancer cells first-hand and explore our latest scientific understanding of how these cells arise -- and how they may relate to the biological processes that make life possible. This event, What Makes Cancer Cells Go?, is free and open to the public.
