GE Security, Inc., a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of the General Electric Co., today announced the launch of SmartCom, a residential intercom and entertainment system that seamlessly blends multi-room audio and intercom capabilities into an easy to install and use, integrated system based on the Smart ConnectionCenter.

SmartCom's expandable design will allow it to deliver additional whole-house control features for security, heating and cooling, and other systems.

SmartCom is easy to wire and install using CAT5 cables and standard double electrical box-size trim rings. SmartCom is fully integrated with GE Security's Smart ConnectionCenter, which drives the intercom and audio functions. For the homeowner, SmartCom is user-friendly, intuitive, and features a unique graphical LCD screen that allows the system to display custom room titles and source names. It is also designed to unobtrusively complement a wide range of decorating schemes and is priced to fit into virtually any new home budget.

"SmartCom is a first of its kind residential control system that continues to deliver on GE Security's promise of more and better integrated real-world security solutions," said A. Louis Parker, president and CEO, GE Security. "Today, SmartCom integrates multiple advanced entertainment applications into a centralized system that serves as a model for the residential intercom industry. Soon, it will leverage advanced GE technologies to function as a revolutionary new home control center" - General Electric.
