President Viktor Yushchenko is due to meet with Ukraine's National Security Council in an emergency session today as the political standoff over his decision to dissolve parliament and call early elections continues.
Yushchenko's rival, Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, has called on parliament to continue working and await a decision by the Constitutional Court.
Hundreds of demonstrators protesting against Yushchenko's order to dissolve the legislature, meanwhile, spent a third night camped outside the parliament building in Kyiv.
