There's a whole new way to capture Pokémon for you to master in the latest fun-packed Pokémon title to hit the Nintendo DS. You have caught and raised your own Pokémon before, but this time you're in the position of a Pokémon Ranger! Your role? Capture Pokémon, and then use their powers to solve many missions in the Fiore region.
Wild Pokémon, however, are not always overly cooperative, so you'll need all your wits about you to nab them before they escape. But a brainy professor has come up with an invention set to revolutionise the world of the Pokémon Ranger: the Capture Styler.
This ingenious tool will eject a fizzing, whizzing Capture Disc which pulses with Pokémon-soothing energy and is used by the Ranger to create a Capture Ring around the target Pokémon. Use your DS stylus to make circles around the Pokémon on the Touch Screen and you'll see a blue Capture Line encircling your target.
But be warned: they won't be caught without a struggle! The Pokémon will disrupt your plans with a whole range of diversionary tactics. But you can use Pokémon you've already captured to help you get more Pokémon! Place a captured Pokémon in the Capture Disc and your Capture Ring will be strengthened with various different effects, called Poké Assists. Use a water Pokémon to help capture a grass Pokémon. Use a fire Pokémon to help you catch a grass Pokémon!
Can you get them before your energy runs out? You will see "OK!" appear once you've successfully captured your Pokémon. But don't stop then: you'll get extra experience points if you continue to loop the Pokémon. The Pokémon you've captured will be registered directly to your Capture Styler's own browser, where you can see all the stats you need.
Once you've captured the Pokémon, you can use their powers to help you with all the jobs a Pokémon Ranger has to deal with. Whether it's a fire that needs putting out or boulders blocking a pathway you'll find a Pokémon whose powers will come to your aid. For a young Pokémon Ranger, there's never a dull moment!
