MFA of Turkey refused to hoist cross on Akhtamar Armenian Church

The Foreign Ministry of Turkey has rejected the proposal of Patriarch of Constantinople Mesrob Mutafyan to hoist a cross on the Holy Cross Armenian Church on Akhtamar island.

The request, which was initially addressed to the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, was later on handed to the Foreign Ministry, which announced its decision on the issue.

"There is not a cross even at Hagia Sofia Temple, since it's a museum. The Church on Akhtamar will also function as a museum and hoisting a cross on its dome would be a wrong step," the Turkish Foreign Ministry said, Marmara Istanbul-based newspaper reports.

Is it a wrong step to not allow the Muslims in or Turks in Europe to not worship in their own Mosques?

How does Turkey want to be a member of the European Union when it makes Christian churches such as Hagia Sofia and Armenian Church Akhtamar into museums out of lack of tolerance?

You don't see this kind of lack of tolerance in Europe.

Turkey must change this attitude. It works against Turkey's interest.
