Granny Finds Wad of Cash on Train, Flushes It Down Toilet

An old woman who had found a large sum of money in cash while she was traveling in a train found nothing better than flush the bills down the toilet, the Komsomolskaya Pravda daily reported on Friday.

The newspaper reported that the poor old woman found a plastic bag with 100 000 rubles (about $4000) in cash on the floor of the passenger train car. The woman took it and spent the whole night thinking whether she should announce the find and look for the owner.

In the morning, however, the owner announced himself. It was a man who lost the money from his pocket in his sleep. The man called the train conductor and loudly announced that the money disappeared begging for the other people on the train to give it back.

The conductor said she was calling the police. At that moment the old woman rushed into the train toilet, tore the money pack open and flushed all the money out of the train (Russian trains do not have septic tanks, toilet contents pour out on the tracks).

When the police arrived on the next station they immediately noticed the granny's strange behavior. She immediately confessed in taking the money and said what she did with it.

Some of the bills were later gathered by people who live near the railroad. -Source: Mosnews.com
