DivX Inc. announced today that the next generation Intel Media Series motherboards will be bundled for consumers with DivX for Windows software.

DivX for Windows software allows users to encode their content into the DivX format, ensuring high visual quality and interoperability with the over 70 million DivX Certified consumer electronics devices from major manufacturers on the global market today. The Media Series line of motherboards are the platform for creating powerful multimedia systems with support for Intel® Core(TM) 2 Duo processors with a faster 1333MHz system bus, providing an ideal solution for video enthusiasts looking for optimal performance while encoding DivX video.

The DP35DP and DG33TL motherboards are the latest desktop boards that Intel is launching for media PC's. They bring new audio, video and performance capabilities to multimedia systems, and the DG33TL model includes on-board graphic capabilities. DivX for Windows 6.5 is the latest version of the core DivX software that has been downloaded over 200 million times. It includes the DivX Codec, the DivX Player, the DivX Web Player, and the DivX Converter, a bundle that provides both playback of DivX and the basic tools necessary to encode video into the widely popular DivX format.

"DivX for Windows gives our Media Series end-users the tools, including the DivX codec optimized for Intel Core 2 Duo and Intel Core 2 Quad processors, to create and view videos in DivX," said Michelle Johnston Holthaus, General Manager, Channel Desktop Platform Group, Intel Corporation. "Our end-users have increasingly been looking for ways to compress their videos for sharing online and for efficient storage so we are excited about offering the DivX for Windows solution with our upcoming Intel Desktop Boards."
