Niger Delta militants attacked government offices on the eve of the historic Presidential and National Assembly elections in Nigeria.

The Niger Delta militants Friday, launched attacks on the headquarters of the Bayelsa state government and other public buildings on the eve of the presidential and national assembly elections in Nigeria.

Other gunmen also attacked oil workers in a boat on their way to an offsure rig.

Ateke Tom, the dreaded leader of the Niger Delta Vigilante (NDV) earlier vowed to launch attacks on the Nigerian government and claimed that his militia attacked and killed seven police officers last Saturday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The Niger Delta militants have denounced and rejected the massively rigged state assembly and gubernatorial elections held on Saturday April 14, 2007.

He said that he has scores to settle with the leaders of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for failing to keep the promises they made to the people of the Niger Delta region after he helped them to rig the elections in 2003.
