America's u-blox Sees Strong Growth in US GPS Market

u-blox America Inc., the GPS
receiver technology provider, has moved to larger premises in Reston,
Virginia, and has hired new staff to match massive growth in the US GPS
market.

The new offices in Reston house local sales managers, an application and design support center composed of Field Application Engineers (FAEs), a local warehouse, and logistics and support personnel.

The move follows exponential growth in the GPS industry in recent months. The compulsory implementation of the FCC's E-911 regulation, which has put a GPS receiver in every cellular telephone so emergency response personnel can pinpoint the location of a caller anywhere in the United States, has boosted GPS sales since its introduction in 2001. At the same time, advancements in GPS technology have enabled smaller, cheaper and more powerful GPS engines, which can now be easily incorporated into products such as PDAs, PNDs and other handheld consumer devices.

"The GPS industry is witnessing unprecedented growth and we have seen a massive growth in sales as a result," said Nikolaos Papadopoulos, President of u-blox America Inc. "We have responded to this demand by expanding our application center to continue providing the high level and quality of support that ensure our customers the fastest time to market for their products. We have also developed our new warehouse to maintain our products' ultra-short lead-times." -Source: http://www.prnewswire.com
