Circus Showman At Blackpool Grand Theatre

Spend an entertaining afternoon running away to the circus with Laci Endresz on Friday 27 April. Laci Endresz Senior has been producer and director of Blackpool Tower Circus for fifteen years. Born in Hungary, he is a fifth generation circus family member, graduating from the Hungarian Circus Academy to spend twenty-five years on the flying trapeze.

Father of Blackpool family favourite Mooky the Clown, Laci also runs circus shows worldwide. This year at Blackpool he presents Mooky's Circus Masquerade and will produce spectacular shows for the Fovarosi Nagy Cirkus, Budapest, and tented circuses in Australia and Scandinavia. He also presents an annual prize at the prestigious Festival International du Cirque de Monte-Carlo for the Best Newcomer - whose winner receives an offer to perform for the summer season at Blackpool.

Laci will be interviewed by Elaine Fossett about his fascinating life's work, including thirty years behind the iron curtain when circus artistes were revered by the state. He will be joined by colleagues from Blackpool Tower Circus, punctuating the discussion with performance to the accompaniment of the Blackpool Tower Circus Band.

The Life and Times of a Circus Showman lecture will take place on Friday 27 April at 2.30pm at the Grand Theatre, Blackpool. All seats just £5. Friends of the Grand £4. -- www.blackpoolgrand.co.uk
