Mayflower Theatre Presents Cast For Christmas "Wizard Of Oz"

New production of the all time classic musical, The Wizard of Oz has been announced for the Christmas season with a star studded cast of Russ Abbot (Russ Abbot's Madhouse, The Producers), Gregor Fisher (Rab C Nesbitt and the hit British movie Love Actually), Matthew Kelly (2004 Olivier award winning actor, ITV's Stars in Their Eyes, and drama Cold Blood), and Gary Wilmot (Santa Claus the Musical, Me And My Girl and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium) at The Mayflower.

Join Dorothy and her new friends, the Scarecrow (Gary Wilmot), Tin Man (Russ Abbot) and Cowardly Lion (Gregor Fisher) on the road to Oz as they endeavor to keep her ruby slippers away from the evil Wicked Witch of the West (Matthew Kelly).

The Mayflower has again teamed up with Michael Rose, the producer of Irving Berlin's White Christmas, last year's hit Mayflower Christmas show, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang which will be here this summer, to present a delightful star studded classic for all the family this year.

This new lavish production is the RSC version of the musical by John Kane based on the MGM movie of 1939. With a cast of 25 and orchestra featuring the classic numbers, We're off to see the Wizard, Follow the Yellow Brick Road and of course Over the Rainbow, The Wizard of Oz will ensure audiences in the south will certainly be taken over the rainbow to a place far, far away.-- www.the-mayflower.com
