Kazakhstan claimed seventh spot in the men's basketball competition with a comprehensive 100-74 defeat of Chinese Taipei at the Basketball Indoor Hall on Thursday 14 December.
Mikhail Yevstigneyev was the standout performer for the Kazakhs, scoring 23 points and grabbing 16 rebounds in the seventh-eighth classification match, although he was outscored by his teammate Anton Ponomarev.
"The Asian Games was a good experience; we showed that we can play and that we love to play this game. I am a bit sad that we're not in the top four, but we're happy and we love Qatar and its people,"Â Yevgeniy Issakov said afterwards.
The third quarter in the ninth-10th classification match proved decisive in determining the winner, Lebanon outscoring Syria by 32 points to 16 to overturn a half time deficit of 43-39.
Syria clawed back six points in the final quarter, but the deficit proved too big to overcome and Lebanon, the second highest ranked team coming into the competition, ran out 88-82 winners to secure ninth spot.
Uzbekistan finish in 11th place in the standings, having left it until their final game at Doha 2006 to record a first victory in the competition with a 92-73 defeat of Bahrain.
They led 26-19 after the first quarter and never looked back with Aleksandr Kozlov top scoring in the match with 25 points, five more than Bahrain's Mahmood Ghuloom managed.
