Unisys Corporation announced today that it has received final approval for a four year extension of the Los Angeles Eligibility, Automated Determination, Evaluation and Reporting contract. The four-year extension is valued at an estimated $108 million. Each year of the four-year extension is partly firm-fixed-price and partly time and materials

The contract extension represents the continuation of a successful public-private partnership to provide application and technology services in support of L.A. County's neediest constituents.

The LEADER system provides an online, real-time method for determining eligibility and benefits for the Department of Public Social Services' assistance programs, including CalWORKs (the state's public assistance program), Medi-CAL (the state's Medicaid program), Food Stamps and General Relief.

LEADER supports more than 11,000 users processing an average of 5.5 million transactions daily - 98 percent of which are handled in three seconds or less; prints between 70,000 and 200,000 images daily, and is capable of producing more than 1,000 different types of notices to clients.

For the past six years, Unisys has provided application modification and enhancements services as well as technology infrastructure and related services for LEADER. Over the course of the new contract, which is effective in May 2007, Unisys will continue to provide world-class application maintenance and technology infrastructure and services.

"We're proud that the county has chosen to extend its relationship with Unisys so that we can continue helping qualifying families and individuals get the critical benefits and services they need," said Ira Kirsch, president, Unisys Global Public Sector.
