Two Car Bomb Attacks Kill 20 in Iraq

Iraqi police say two suicide car bombings west of Baghdad have killed 20 people and wounded at least 40 others. Police said the first attack targeted a market just outside of Ramadi Monday, while a second car bomb went off near a police checkpoint also near Ramadi.

On Sunday, the U.S. military said explosions killed eight American soldiers in Iraq, including six who died along with a European journalist, when their vehicle was blown up in Diyala province.

Separate blasts in Baghdad and another area north of the capital killed the two other U.S. soldiers.

In Baghdad Sunday, a car bomb killed more than 30 people and wounded 80 others at an outdoor market in Baiyaa, a Shi'ite neighborhood. Another car-bomb explosion in the capital killed at least four people near the Ministry of Labor.

In Samarra, a suicide car bomber and a gunman killed 12 Iraqi police during an attack on the city's police headquarters. - VOA News
