Sun Microsystem has recently acquired SavaJe Software and started working on JavaFX Mobile. This new software is specially designed for smart phones and enables its users to surf the web, send and receive e-mail, make voice and video calls. In over words the entire web goes to the users' hands.
"We're focused on connecting business systems with people," Sun Microsystem's chief executive Jonathan Schwartz said. "If you're a bank, you want to reach customers on set-top boxes, car navigation systems, mobile phones. You want to reach them with your business systems to update them with their savings (account details) or credit card bill. What's happening on the Internet today is all these systems are being connected to one another."
JavaFX Mobile low level programs and libraries are based on Linux and user applications are based on Java. The whole interface is java enabled and is user friendly.
JavaFX Mobile will be offered under an open-source license, developers will be allowed to use and modify its applications.
Later the software is supposed be designed for other mobile devices as well such as television set-top boxes, navigation devices, and automobile dashboards.
