Men's basketball: IR Iran lead at half time

IR Iran held a comfortable 43-32 lead half way through their bronze medal playoff match against Jordan.

They sped into a first-quarter lead of 21-16 after opening the scoring with a two-point effort from forward Samad Nikkhah.

Jordan bounced back to briefly lead thanks to three-pointers from their captain Zaid Al Khaz and Enver Soobzokov but poor shooting of just six successful attempts from 17 efforts saw them hand over the advantage back to IR Iran, for whom Mahdi Kamrany with eight points and Nikkhah, seven, were their top scorers.

The Iranians stretched their lead in the second quarter largely thanks to Kamrany, who scored four three-pointers out of four to top score with 15 points at the break. Alrieza Honardoost also weighed in seven points. Al Khaz netted two more three-pointers for a total of 13 points to keep his team in touch at the halftime.

Bronze at stake: the medal chase continues in the third and fourth quarters.
