Lee Scott MP who is a member of the powerful House of Commons All Party Select Committee on Health is the Patron of the UK Autism Foundation.
Autism is a neuro-developmental disorder, there over 500,000 people with autism in the United Kingdom.According to UK researchers 1 in 100 children are on the autism spectrum.
Scott has campaigned on autism in the House of Commons, in the Palace of Westminster. He initiated a landmark debate on autism in Westminster in 2007, following it up with a question on autism - in Prime Minister's Questions(PMQs)- which led to a meeting with the Prime Minister on autism. The British Prime Minister met Lee Scott MP and autism campaigner Ivan Corea. Scott has intoduced an Autism Bill in Parliament and has signed early day motions on autism and tabled written questions on autism.
The UK Autism Foundation has launched a £10 million fundraising project to build the first ever state-of-the-art Autism Centre in London, build an autism school and launch initiatives to help the poor - there are many families with autism who are below the poverty line. Scott has pledged to support the work of the UK Autism Foundation.
