
Autism Campaigners are calling on British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and US President Barack Obama to reach out to the vulnerable when they meet at the G20 London Summit later this week. G20 Leaders are meeting on the United Nations World Autism Awareness Day on 2nd April 2009.
Ivan Corea of the UK Autism Foundation is urging Britain's Prime Minister Gordon Brown, American President Barack Obama and G20 leaders not to forget the poor. The credit crunch and the economic downturn is devastating families with autism. There is serious concern over the re-possession of homes of families with autism, parents have lost their jobs and people are finding it so difficult to cope with life during the present financial crisis.
G20 leaders are set to discuss the economic meltdown but autism campaigners are calling for real action,when they meet at the Excel Centre in London Docklands.
'We are appealing on behalf of the poor, many parents, carers, children and adults with autism and Asperger's Syndrome are facing financial pain,they need urgent help and support during the economic crisis,' said Ivan Corea. Over 200 MPs have signed three early day motions in the House of Commons in the Palace of Westminster supporting the call of the UK Autism Foundation.
World Autism Awareness Day was launched on 2nd April 2008 in New York by the United Nations General Assembly. Campaigners are calling on G20 leaders to take decisive action on WAAD to help the vulnerable and the poor.
