Simpsons Going To Save The World In New Game

The game maker Electronic Arts announced the release of new video and computer game "The Simpsons Game" that will be available this summer.

"The Simpsons Game" is based on famous long-running animated TV series and can be played on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. There have been about 20 games over the year based on this TV series, but all of them failed.

"Our goal in developing 'The Simpsons Game' is to create the most original game ever, which is a lofty goal and only possible given the close collaboration with 'The Simpsons' creative team," said Scot Amos, executive producer of the project. "We're also especially proud of the game's warm visual feel, which captures -- for the first time ever in a game -- the look of the TV show. As Comic Book Guy says, 'Best. Simpsons. Game. Ever!'"

"The Simpsons Game" has 16 episodes and the whole family of Simpsons acting: Homer, Marge, Bart and Lisa. All of them have their special powers and will try to save the world.

Bart wears his Bartman costume and fight villains with his famous slingshot. Homer turns into a big ball of fat Homerball and destroys enemies. Marge uses her nagging to make others do what she wants them to do. Lisa meditates at Buddha statue and squeezes enemies.

Since "The Simpsons Game" is not the first in its kind, it is hard to believe that it will succeed, but Electronic Arts says that their challenge is to overcome all the previous games and become the favorite game of players. They are going to prove that this game is not like the previous ones, this one is much better.

"EA's large back-catalog can be made fun of, mimicked, and the many other top franchises are also fair game," Hodgson said. "This is excellent and important for this evolving industry, and also another great hook to get gamers to play the game. It also goes a long way to dispel the myths that [movie critic] Roger Ebert and others like to impart from time to time, that video games aren't art."

"The Simpsons Game" guide author David Hodgson outlined four things that make this game special: first, the game has its own story writes, second, they have purchased the rights to the Simpsons franchise, third, all the personages of the film Homer, Marge, Bart and Lisa are directly acting in the game, fourth, the game is satirical.
