Oprah Winfrey has topped a new survey to find the most generous celebrity philanthropists, donating more than $US50 million of her fortune to charity last year. Los Angeles-based The Giving Back Fund, a group set up to encourage and advise on celebrity philanthropy, says the 53-year-old talk show queen gave $US58.3 million to her own charities and other groups.
Second on the fund's annual "Giving Back 30 list" was late fashion designer Geoffrey Beene, who left $US44 million to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre treatment and research centre in New York in his will.
The list was published on the Giving Back Fund's website (www.givingback.org).
Other celebrities to make the list included Barbra Streisand, who placed fourth after donating just under $US12 million to the foundation which carries her name as well various civil liberties and environmental groups.
World number one golfer Tiger Woods was fifth after giving $US9.5 million to several charities he sponsors.
Lifestyle guru Martha Stewart was seventh following a $US5 million donation to New York's Mount Sinai Hospital, while Hollywood's golden couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were 11th with $US2.4 million in donations.
Pitt and Jolie's donations were spread between a school and community centre in Namibia, and other organisations including Doctors Without Borders and Global Action for Children.
Nicolas Cage was 12th on the list with a $US2 million donation to human rights watchdog Amnesty International, joining former Beatle Paul McCartney and golf legend Arnold Palmer.

#1 Christianity
Wow I agree to an extent but I believe the Word of God says the following:
Romans 10:9 - If I confess with my mouth That Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in my
heart that God raised him from the dead, that you shall be saved
Romans 12:3 - God has given us each a measure of faith
I John 4:2 - every spirit {human} that confess that Jesus Christ has come in flesh is
of God
John 1:1 - In da beginning was da Word And da Word was with God and da Word was God
John 1:14 - da Word became flesh
So as u can read that Jesus Christ is God and the only way to heaven is through Him - John 14:6 - Jesus Says "I am the way - the truth and the life, no one comes to the
Father except through me.
Why?
Romans 5:8 - God proved His love for us in this, that while we were sinners, Christ
came and died for us.
Sp Nte - we never asked Him to but he chose to cuz of His love for us!
John 3:16 - for God so loved the world He gave His only begotten son that whomsoever
should believe in Him, he shall not die but have everlasting life
Sp Nte - not only we didn't ask, but He gave and paid a price so high for our souls
he can't be outbidded. He came Himself in the flesh as God and called
Himself Jesus Christ
Hebrews 4:12 - no other name that has been given unto men under heaven in which they
must be saved, it's the man Christ Jesus
So as you can read God has done everything to save us:Faith - His son - Himself. We must live what we believe and obey the word of God - just like everything else in life. Jesus said if you love me then obey me! it's in how you live for God and recieving God is what gets you into heaven.
Sp Nte - if you don't comply on your job, and make the changes necessary to keep your
job, according to the requirements of your job scope, you'll lose your job
by your choice. It's the same with God only you can ask for forgiveness an
He forgives cause of His love for you. he loves you the way you are but
loves you enough not to leave you the way you are.
It's the goodness and kindness of God that brings us into repentance {change}
