U.S. Defense Department blocked YouTube, MySpace and other video sharing sites to be accessed from military network.
Since video sharing sites get more popular, there are lots and lots of users who sign up and share photos and videos with other users. These sites are easy to sign up and use for all of us, including soldiers.
Defense Department has decided to forbid soldiers use this kind of sites, because military information sharing can be useful for enemies to harm not only U.S. military, but also for U.S. citizens. So from now any attempt to access public sharing site from military network will be banned.
In the list of banned sites are Metacafe, IFilm, StupidVideos and FileCabi, BlackPlanet, Hi5, Pandora, MTV, 1.fm, live365, and Photobucket.
Meantime soldiers are not blocked to use Yahoo, they are also free to visit internet clubs, because internet clubs are independent vendors and their visitors have access to the whole web. Soldiers can also share photos and videos via e-mail, keep in touch with their friends and families.
