The award recognizes her second album, 2006's Push, which scored a Canadian #1 Christian radio hit single with "Break Me." She also had a holiday season hit in '06 with her inspired cover version of fellow Canadian Joni Mitchell's "River."
Evans wrote all of Push's twelve songs and co-produced the album with veteran producer Tom T. Hall. It is slated for a U.S. release this summer.
An emerging star in the world of contemporary Christian popular music, Evans was raised in Victoria, B.C. Earlier this year, she represented her home country at the NBA All-Star 2007 in Las Vegas, singing the National Anthem "O Canada" at the kick-off, the Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam (Christine hails from the same hometown as the Phoenix Suns' superstar Steve Nash). The event supported NBA's social responsibility initiative NBA
Cares.
Christine Evans has also just signed with the William Morris Agency's Christian Music Division for representation.
After studying at Michigan's renowned Interlochen Arts Academy, Christine now attends high school near New York City, where she is in the midst of recording her third album of original songs. -www.ChristineEvans.com
