Nigeria: Militants Blow Up Home of President-Elect Goodluck Jonathan

The country home of Nigeria's vice president-elect, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan was dynamited by unidentified militants early Wednesday in the village of Otu Eke in the oil rich Bayelsa state of the Niger Delta.

The militants attacked and blew up the country home of vice president-elect Goodluck Jonathan Wednesday. They also blew up a police station and killed two police officers.

The Niger Delta militants rejected the election of governors Alhaji Omar Yar'Adua and Dr. Goodluck Jonathan in the massively rigged presidential election won by the ruling Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP). And they have vowed to disrupt the installation of the president-elect Alhaji Omar Yar'Adua and vice president-elect Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

The spate of attacks on oil installations onshore and offshore and rampant kidnappings of foreign oil workers have cut off a quarter of oil exports and forced thousands of expatriates to flee the volatile region.
