Environment Award for SMART Wet Cleaning

Winning Brands Corporation (PINKSHEETS: WNBD) www.WinningBrands.ca announces that a 2007 Environmental Achievement Award has been given by the Region of Durham to Marty Kimmerer of Carriage Trade Cleaning Centres for leadership in the use of environmentally progressive practices.

Carriage Trade Cleaning Centres was a leader in the greater Toronto area through early implementation of solvent free dry cleaning, using SMARTâ„¢ Wet Cleaning Solutions instead of Perchloroethylene ("Perc"), the controversial chemical used by most dry cleaners. Public awareness of the Perc issue and the emerging role of advanced Wet Cleaning to replace Perc was elevated May 15th with a decision taken by the Toronto Board of Health. The board voted to accept its staff recommendation to develop a mechanism to phase out Perc use by Toronto dry cleaners. The staff report also proposes that the City of Toronto ask the federal government do the same on a national level.

The Eric Krause Innovative Plans, Policies and Initiatives Award bestowed upon Mr. Kimmerer reflects the special efforts by him to provide consumers and the community in general with a vision to improve the environment for all through this method. Carriage Trade Cleaning Centres is already operating on a basis that the City of Toronto's Board of Health is seeking to achieve in Toronto's dry cleaning industry -- 100% Perc free. It is estimated that approximately 30,000 dry cleaners in North America using Perc are coming under growing regulatory and financial pressure to switch to a Perc alternative. Carriage Trade Cleaning Centres' operations are considered practical proof that it is feasible to provide customer satisfaction without resorting to Perc use while still processing the entire range of "Dry Clean Only" garments. -
