Jaslene Gonzalez, 20 years old, wins America's Next Top Model. This is the second time she participates in the competition, she didn't succeed at the first time, but "second time is charm". Now she is the winner.
Jaslene is the first Latino woman to win America's Next Top Model. She struggled and worked hard to do it, because not every person is able to recover from failure. She said, that she was very willing to win, and that she will never give up.
After winning the competition she said: "Every little girl has a dream to be something. And to be here, I overcame so much. I didn't make it the first time but, now, look at me...That shows to all young women, if you have that drive, keep going. Second time around, and I'm America's Next Top Model!"
Now Gonzalez is America's Next Top Model, which means lots of contracts, and lots of money, and lots of hard working hours, of course. At the current moment she has a year contract with Elite Model Management, a cover and six-page spread in Seventeen magazine, and a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl. This is a successful start for model's career.
During the 13 weeks of the competition, contestants have had session trainings and mass of photo shots. Judges commented that Jaslene looked older then the other contestants and that it is a little later for her to start modeling career. But when Jaslene Gonzalez appeared in the last three finalists with Renee Alway, Natasha Galkina, judges chose her.
"I'm completely blown away by the judges' decision. I had the best commercial, I had the best picture, which apparently wasn't enough for them... I'd rather have wisdom in my eyes and knowledge in my head than be blank and stupid and have nothing there," Said Jaslene.
When the judges had to choose from the last two finalists Natasha Galkina and Jaslene Gonzalez, Jaslene said: "I'm the Latin spice here! I'm the edgy girl. I'm not the girl next door, but I'm the girl down the block, in your hood!"
And she was right. America's Next Top Model chose Jaslene Gonzalez because of she is "the edgy girl" and she is "spicy".
