Nordic Stocks Advanced On Statoil and Hydro Rising

North European stocks increased, paced by Norwegian state oil giants Statoil and Norsk Hydro.

The Dow Jones Nordic 30 Index advanced 42.73, or 0.5 percent, to 8992.50 at 10:34 a.m. in Stockholm as 20 shares gained, four declined and six were unchanged.

Statoil, Norway's largest oil and gas producer, added 0.8 percent to 168.5. Norsk Hydro, the nation's second-biggest oil company, gained 0.5 percent to 214.5 kroner.

Crude oil rose in New York on concern U.S. gasoline stockpiles are insufficient to meet demand when the summer driving season begins.

Separately, Ineos Group Holdings Plc, a closely held chemicals maker, agreed to buy Norsk Hydro ASA's petrochemical unit for 5.5 billion kroner ($910 million). -Neftegaz.ru
