NEC Launches New Series of PASOLINK NEO

A new gigabit Ethernet interface added to the lineups

NEC

NEC Corporation announced that it has introduced to the global marketplace a new gigabit Ethernet interface (GbE) for its PASOLINK NEO point-to-point wireless access system designed to enable broadband, IP-based networks with advanced functionality, high speed and superior expandability.

As broadband access markets such as WiMax are launched, and NGN all-IP networks that NEC is promoting, the demand for point-to-point wireless access systems are growing.

The PASOLINK series already offers a multi-mode transmission solution using 10/100 Base-T and E1 (2.048 Mbps) interfaces. This new offering in the PASOLINK series provides a gigabit Ethernet interface for the first time, and using a proprietary transmission scheme, enables throughput of over 150 Mbps in the 28 MHz band. It is also compatible with various interfaces including 1000BASE-T (copper) and 1000BASE-SX/LX (fiber), which allows for flexible adaptation to an all-IP network, for which continuous growth is expected.

Summary of the PASOLINK NEO GbE Interface

- Switchable between 1000BASE-T (copper) or 1000BASE-SX/LX (fiber) interface configurations.

- An SFP transceiver is used for the optical module to provide compatibility with 1000BASE/LX in addition to 1000BASE-SX

- Throughput of over 150 Mbps is achievable in the 28 MHz band (128QAM) * An optional panel enables the use of both E1-WS (2.048 Mbps) and WS/SC-LAN.
