Google, Microsoft Improve Internet Mapping Services

Google and Microsoft work hard to improve their internet mapping services and to win internet travelers' market. Both rivals have announced map innovations at a time on Tuesday.

Google Maps and Earth announced a new Street View feature, which allows an internet traveler to have a foot-passenger look at parts of San Francisco, New York, Las Vegas, Denver, Miami, Silicon Valley in northern California. Google plans to have the feature for other metropolitan areas, including Australia.

With Google Street View a user can virtually walk the streets, enter restaurants, zoom bus stations and plan their tours.

The map has static and dynamic parts. Camera icons on the map show that a dynamic view is available, with 360 degree view, with very detailed zoom. Static views include very clear photo shots of the streets. (These photos are concerning, because of privacy. People, cars, homes are very clearly shown on the photos.)

Google Street View photos have Google's Mountain View office street address and Stanford University address, where the Google's co-founders were students.

On the same day Microsoft announced its new Live Search Maps with three dimension view, to help find city landmarks, people and businesses. The photos enables "bird's-eye" view, as Microsoft's representative said.

Live Search Maps have already implemented street view features before. The three dimension maps offer views of US, Canada, Britain cities. By Ruzan Harutyunyan for HULIQ
