Soloway's used malicious software, which infected whole network of computers. Then the computers, so called 'zombies' start sending spam e-mails, but the computer owners don't have any idea about what's going with their computers. So the companies get spammers reputation unfairly.
The spam e-mails Soloway was sending, were offering companies a 20 million a-mail advertising campaign only for US$495.
There are lots of professional companies fighting against spammers, such as Spamhaus Project. It is an international anti-spam company, which fights against internet violations. It has about 135 spammers, and Robert Alan Soloway is in top 10 list. He was sending about 80 percent of all spam e-mails.
For anti-spam organizations it is difficult to fight against the violation, because most of the spammers are in Russia and in countries, which are out of U.S. or European law. But Soloway's company Newport Internet Marketing Corp is based in U.S., so it was possible to track his illegal actions. Soloway himself is from Seattle, Washington.
"Most of the Russian gangs seem to have a lot more freshly hijacked computers and are able to deliver much more spam into people's inboxes," said Vincent Hanna, a European investigator for Spamhaus. "The stuff that Robert Soloway had under this control, let's call it `second grade.'"
World's biggest e-mail spammer Robert Alan Soloway is arrested, but spam e-mails are still attacking internet users, so anti-spam companies need to work hard to protect public from spam. By Ruzan Harutyunyan for HULIQ
Thank God He is a not Nigerian
I am just happy that the dude is not a Nigerian. Because, any e-mail scammer is suspected to be a Nigerian. But most scam e-mails are actually spam e-mails. And I doubt if 90% of them come from Nigeria.
Both scammers and spammers are the devils on rampage online.
One God, one faith.
