On May 31st Heinz Australia has signed an agreement with Cadbury Schweppes for the purchase of the jams, toppings and jellies business in Australia.

Heinz has purchased a license to use the Cottee's and Rose's brands in certain categories in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, as well as Monbulk, Choc Whizz and Ice Magic Brands.

Cadbury Schweppes will continue to be the brand owner and sell its range of Cottee's cordial.

The acquisition of these interests in the Cottee's Food business gives Heinz Australia a presence in the popular and fast-growing categories of jams, toppings, desserts and jellies.

"This is a good acquisition for us," says Managing Director, Peter Widdows, "It allows Heinz Australia to offer an even greater range of products to our retail and foodservice customers and is a good fit with our existing product portfolio."

"We have been experiencing very strong organic growth over the past four years and want to complement this organic growth with some acquisition based growth. The brands under the deal are ideal, as they are well known heritage brands, similar to our own and offer plenty of potential for future growth."

Heinz will take control of the portfolio effective the 9th of July this year. -http://www.heinz.com/
