Press Briefing on Advocacy Training Project for Sudanese Lawyers to be Held in London

Sudanese lawyers who represent victims of torture and abuse in the Darfur region of the Sudan will be available to reporters at a special press briefing to be held in conjunction with the American Bar Association Section of Litigation's Darfur Legal Training Project. Each of these lawyers has made personal sacrifices in an effort to represent those who cannot speak for themselves. The briefing will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. in London.

The training project is an intensive one-week course that is being held June 3-9 at the Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel in London. The project was developed by the Section of Litigation to help prepare 13 Sudanese lawyers for their representation of victims of the genocide in Darfur before international tribunals, including the International Criminal Court in The Hague. Salih Mahmoud Osman, an internationally-recognized human rights advocate from the Sudan, will be bringing the lawyers to London to participate in this unique program. About a dozen volunteer lawyers from the United States will serve on the faculty.
