'Gracie' is a worm family drama about how a teenage girl is trying to get into male soccer team and to prove, that girls can overcome impossible. This sweet movie shows that sometimes dreams come true, if one really wishes.
The movie is about Bowens' family living in New Jersey's suburban, 1978.
Bryan Bowen (Dermot Mulroney) is a moving company worker and was an outstanding soccer player. His dream was to see his son Johnny (Jesse Lee Soffer) a shining soccer star and he works hard with him. But after a tragic car accident Johnny dies and the family falls in deep depression.
Bryan's daughter Gracie (Carly Schroeder) thinks that the best way to honor Johnny's memory is to become a renowned soccer player herself. But neither her father, nor her mother (Elisabeth Shue) believe, that she is serious in her intensions and that she can do it.
The other personages in the movie also don't believe in Gracie. Soccer coach, team boys, and even the girls are trying to make her stay away from the 'real male sport'. The girls are even thinking, that Gracie maybe a lesbian.
But none of these barriers make Gracie give up and she makes her dream come true.
This is a real story about Elisabeth Shue's childhood, about her useless high school athletics attempts. The movie's director is Davis Guggenheim - Shue's husband. 'Gracie' is 92 minutes long and is PG-13 for brief sexual content. By Ruzan Harutyunyan for HULIQ
