The South Carolina State Park Service is again inviting artists to spend a week in a cabin and share their experience through their work.

Applications are being accepted now through Oct. 31 for the 11th annual Artist-in-Residence Program. Selected artists will receive a week at a park of their choice in 2008 in exchange for a piece of their artistry.

Each artist must submit samples in the application. A jury of artists and park representatives will select participants based on artistic quality and the ability to relate and interpret the park through their work. Selected artists will be notified by Nov. 30.

After the park visit, he or she must donate a completed original work to the park within 90 days. In the past, diverse media such as photography, quilts, paintings, wall hangings and pottery have been accepted. Through the Artist-In-Residence program, artists find solace, relaxation and inspiration for a work that will be kept by the park for posterity and public display.
