Cormac McCarthy's First-Ever TV Interview Airs at Oprah Winfrey Show

The notoriously private novelist Cormac McCarthy will appear on The Oprah Winfrey Show in his first-ever TV interview to discuss the 57th Oprah's Book Club selection The Road on Tuesday, June 5, 2007.

During the interview, Cormac McCarthy reveals insight into his writing process, the genesis for The Road, and his take on notoriety, women and life's necessities.

Published in 2006, Cormac McCarthy's The Road is a post-apocalyptic American tale of survival and unfailing hope as a man and his son journey through the ruins of utter devastation. Both gripping and inspiring, The Road explores the severe destructiveness, desperate tenacity and tremendous tenderness capable within human civilization. In April 2007, Cormac McCarthy won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize in Fiction for The Road.

Beginning at 4:00 p.m. ET on June 5, additional never-before-seen video clips from the interview with McCarthy will be available exclusively to Oprah's Book Club members at www.oprah.com/theroad.
