Microsoft Cuts Xbox 360 Price

Microsoft surprised video console gamers with the new price for Xbox 360 - now it costs only $199.

Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Nintendo's Wii are hot rival and each are trying to win the market attracting more and more new customers. Currently Wii is ahead of Xbox, so Microsoft is moving on with marketing to win the battle.

Currently the situation in the video game console market is the following Wii costs $250, Xbox 360 costs $299 at Amazon.com and the same console with a 20-GB hard drive costs $399, Sony's PlayStation 3 costs $599 and is equipped with a 60-GB drive.

Market analysis shows monthly sales of each video game console for May in the Untied States: Wii sold 360000 units, Xbox 360 sold 174000 units, PlayStation sold 82000 units.

Sony's PlayStation is mainly oriented on hard gamers, who are willing to pay the price for performance quality and 'real game'. It has a smaller, but at the same time a strong market.

Nintendo's Wii has expanded its market including those, who are not hard gamers, but want to relax and enjoy for a short while. Besides the price, Nintendo also released a few games especially for dilettante gamers, and it won a large market with this strategy.

Microsoft's Xbox 360 has a 'sweet spot' for gamers, as said David Hufford, a director of Xbox product management. It has cut the price for the video game console.

"If we don't make that move, make it early, and expand our demographic," Peter Moore, the head of Microsoft's interactive entertainment business division, told Bloomberg, "we will wind up in the same place as with Xbox 1, a solid business with 25 million people. What I need is a solid business with 90 million people."

The next step of Microsoft is going to be enlarging the market. Xbox 360 aims to involve women, who are not hard gamers at all. But the new marketing strategy will have interesting offering for attracting women. For HULIQ.COM

This is complete and utter baloney.

I checked XBOX.com and there is no news of a price cut. There is, however, a possibility of a price cut - please see the following link:

Read carefully when the price cut is mentioned - it says the price may be cut, but it doesn't say the price hasbeen cut - at least not yet.

I will leave this post here for the time being as a correction for what should be said by the original poster. Until then, don't believe the hype - you fanboys should all know what rumor and speculation means by now. And a side note to the moderator: PLEASE DELETE THIS FAKE POST IMMEDIATELY. Thank you.

David Hufford, a director of Xbox product management, has given an interview to Bloomberg News and was quoted saying: "We are well aware that the sweet spot of the market is really 199 bucks."

All press companies were writing about Xbox price cut, but nobody blamed any media company in lie.

This announcement sounded true, who could predict, that Microsoft will change its mind.

this is the most terrible
